Does the type of port made make a difference in the sound produced?

I know that there are different types of ports that can be used on a vented box. Like slot port, square ports, or round ports made from PVC. Well there are probably others, but I was just wondering if there is any difference sound wise in the different ports. If you had the same subwoofer in two different boxes, and each had the same cubic feet of space but with a different type of port, lets use round port and square port, then would there be a difference in sound. Lets say we did the calculations right and got the tuning frequincies the same. So everything is the same ecept the shape of the port. Is there any difference in sound? Any difference at all?

How do you figure out measurements for a slot port if you have measurements for a round port?

I currently have an Audiobahn Aw122N 12″ subwoofer in a 2.5 cubic foot box, and it has a round vent that is 4″ in diameter and 8.5″ deep. It is tuned to 37hz. I custom build it myself and it sounds awesome, much better than my sealed box with it. Well I dont mind the way it looks, b/c it sounds great, but I do like the way a slot port looks over a round one. So I was wondering how you get the measurements and dimensions of the slot vent if I only have the round port measurments. And if this is needed, i have it in the trunk of a 1998 Mercury Mystique. And it is running on 400 rms. Tell me if i need more details. Can anyone help me out with some type of info, web site, or conversion i can use to make a slot port given the round port info.
