Live To Fish asked:
The pirates were tricked into thinking they were in for more negotiations when they were ambushed by the most powerful military on earth. Should Obama be hauled into The Hague for trial?

No
You are wrong.
In the end:
–ALL American sailors: Safe
–American ship: Secured
–Cargo: Secured
–Pirates: 3 Dead, 1 Captured
Does anyone know why Republicans are complaining about the way it was handled?

You must be kidding…
And you’re also lying — negotiations had broken down.
Comment by Reality has a Liberal Bias — April 23, 2009 @ 1:01 am
I applaud Obama but If the same thing happened to Bush and Bush made the same decision liberals would be shouting WAR CRIMINAL Left and well just Left.
Comment by Conspiracy Buster 2.0 — April 24, 2009 @ 2:51 pm
Liar.
The negotiations ended after the hostages’ first escape attempt.
If you don’t want to remain ignorant forever, you really need to turn off the Faux Noise and get some REAL information.

Comment by Hawgdog — May 4, 2009 @ 2:44 pm
Absurd.
Comment by Furball1999 — May 6, 2009 @ 6:50 pm
No. The pirates don’t represent Somalia AND they were contravening international law.
Comment by Beverly — May 8, 2009 @ 5:41 am
Love it..!! this is the funniest question I have seen in quiet sometime.
Comment by Baggio — May 11, 2009 @ 4:02 am
No. It’s good they were killed. We should go after their base there in Somalia. Squash the damn problem where it comes from. That is a lawless country.
Comment by Greg — May 13, 2009 @ 9:37 pm
You think that was Obama’s plan.
Don’t people realize the President doesn’t do EVERYTHING.
You think Obama drew a little map and planned out the whole damn thing. The Navy, who Obama sent, addressed the situation, it’s not the President’s job to to decide small stuff like that.
Comment by OSU Buckeyes14 — May 16, 2009 @ 9:05 am
no, Bush should be tried for war crimes starting a war on a country that never provoked us
dip sh*t
Comment by Sponge Boob Scotch Pants — May 18, 2009 @ 1:53 pm
I know neocons would be praising Bush if this happened under Bush, but I think it makes us look bad (a lot like countries like China) when we kill first and not bother to talk like civilized people. If someone was held hostage by an American here, I would hope they would’t kill first and ask questions later. There’s always many sides to a story. We don’t know how they were treated and what they were trying to do–only what our media tells us. I know I will get thimbs down but I don’t care. I care more about what’s becoming of our country and the world!
Comment by dumdum — May 19, 2009 @ 1:09 pm
No, it’s a law enforcement issue
“aggressive war” as opposed to what? hugging and kissing war?
The term you’re looking for is ‘war of aggression’. This is not an act of war
Comment by justgoodfolk — May 22, 2009 @ 2:26 am
An act of war against what country? The pirates were in international waters, no country. The pirates were committing illegal acts, they were breaking the law, they were criminals, not a country sanctioned activity.
I want to know why America was negotiating with them in the first place. When a criminal commits a crime and takes a hostage during the commission of that crime, negotiations are only part of the plan while the SWAT team decides how to enter and take out the criminals. In this case the negotiations and SWAT should have been Navy Seals, quick and swift. We should not have had politicians trying to negotiate.

Comment by Trust in God,Not Obama — May 26, 2009 @ 12:36 am
I appreciate the sarcasm of your question, but can’t we just say that in the end it worked out the right way? Sailors rescued, ship saved. Violence came only after a bona fide effort at avoiding it. Case solved, mission accomplished. I didn’t vote for Obama, but I’m big enough to say that this thing was handled well, and he should get the credit for it, along with the good ol’ U.S. Navy. He certainly would have got the blame for it had it gone the other way.
Those of you who are saying that Bush would have taken blame from the liberals had he done the exact same thing are no doubt correct. He would have. The liberals doing so would have been vindictive and petty. But the conservatives denying Obama his due in this case are not only being just as vindictive and petty, they’re also being hypocritical as well.
Hey. WE (liberals, conservatives) won!! Our guys and gals pulled it off. We’re the victors!! Let’s just enjoy the rare moment of what should be unity, and be thankful for a change.
Comment by Variable 46 — May 26, 2009 @ 8:39 pm
No, it is justice. It is probably a mercy killing keeping them from going back to that sh*thole called Somalia.

No.
Comment by Steven_Demzuk@yahoo.com — May 29, 2009 @ 12:57 am
No , in fact we should kill more pirates just for the target practice. I doubt Obama had anything to do with this, he is too busy licking the robes of royalty elsewhere
Comment by Brimstone Halo — May 29, 2009 @ 8:32 am
You’ve got to be kidding right? These vermin should have been taken out and thank God the administration finally came to the right conclusion…These vermin commited agression; not the United States…We need to start showing that we are not weak and people can walk over us, and they did the right thing by ridding the world of worthless vermin…I am very happy this happened…I prayed for the Captain last night and my prayers came true.
Comment by cardgirl2 — June 1, 2009 @ 10:37 am
no, absolutely not. Is it that important that they were tricked into thinking that they were going for more negotiations? the most important thing is that the captain was rescued and this is a lessons for pirates to think about before engaging in this type of piracy.congratulations mr. president.
Comment by Oraldo — June 3, 2009 @ 11:35 am
No. This isn’t even close to “war.”
Navy Seals are to pirates
what S.W.A.T. teams are to bank robbers with hostages.
They got what they deserved. The “pirate” BS has to stop and Obama isn’t going to tolerate it like Bush did.
Comment by Yinzer from Sixburgh — June 3, 2009 @ 9:24 pm
lol, this is a joke.
Comment by marc2oni — June 4, 2009 @ 10:01 am
Aggressive WAR against PIRATES? That kinda sounds like an oxy moron…they are LAWLESS PIRATES, all you are doing is using this venue to express your pointless pointlessness….WOW!!!!

Comment by Often Imitated, NEVER Duplicated — June 7, 2009 @ 2:48 pm
You are wrong because it was the Navy Seals who acted when they saw a rifle at Captain Phillip’s back ….. Obama’s only tactic of choice was *talk*!
Comment by susisays — June 8, 2009 @ 12:43 am
All good answers. I agree, I think all was handled well. Too bad lives had to be taken but when “you play you pay.” Don’t you think the only thing on the pirates minds were to get the money or to get to shore with our American Captain. I think we handled it as true Americans. First top priority our hostages safety, second you don’t mess with Americans, and third cause we will always respond the American Way, Proud, Thorough and Now.
Comment by susystars — June 11, 2009 @ 9:57 am
Those pirates aren’t citizens of any country and they know the dangerous outcomes from their actions. Just because you get “ambushed by the most powerful country on earth” doesn’t automatically make you an innocent victim.

He clearly told the Navy to use squirt guns. They disobeyed their wimp in chief.
